Albert the Pen ( Part 1)

CHAPTER 1 WE ARE GOING ON A TRIP!!!

Albert the Pen lived in the best pen holder with the best pen caps. Albert had the best spring a pen has ever known. His spring would make him jump when people pressed on him.  He was the color black with red and white stripes.  He was the pen of a little boy.  When the boy went to camp each summer, and his mom and dad would use him and they would show all their friends Albert.  That summer the family that the little boy lived in decided to go to Mexico for a month stay. Albert was so happy because he thought he was going to Mexico too!  But little did he know, he was NOT going to Mexico with them.  He was staying home.

CHAPTER 2 LET’S GO!!!

Albert woke up the next morning and saw the little boy packing toys, art stuff, and clothing. “WOW, we must be going to Mexico late tonight!”, thought Albert. So Albert grabbed his best pen cap, put it on, and made sure that his spring had extra zing and packed the rest of his caps in his suitcase. Then, Albert hopped into the little boys backpack and fell asleep.

CHAPTER 3 NOOOOOOOOOOO

Albert woke up to the sound of yelling.  “YOU ARE NOT BRINGING YOUR FAVE PEN WITH YOU! IT IS OUR BEST ITEM!!! WHAT IF IT GETS LOST?!”

“MOM I WANT TO BRING MY PEN!!!” said the boy.

Mom replied, “BUT YOU CAN’T SO PUT YOUR PEN BACK IN YOUR PEN HOLDER THIS MINUTE SON!!!”

“FINE!!!” Yelled the little boy.

And he put Albert back in the pen holder with his suitcase.  “But, what if he gets lonely?”, asked the little boy.

“Haha, Pens aren’t alive” said his Mom.  “They can’t run and jump and sing and dance like we can. Come on hun, it’s time to go to the airport.”

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Thought Albert.

CHAPTER 4 WHAT TO DO!!!!

Five minutes later the little boy was gone. Albert felt sad, mad, and afraid.  He was all alone in a room with all the lights off and it was dark outside. Albert didn’t know what to do. Should he go find his boy and sneak in the backpack? Or, should he stay home and wait for the little boy to come back? Albert decided that he should stay home and wait for the little boy to come back because airports are big and he could get lost.  Plus, they’d be back in a month.  That isn’t that long.  Is it?!

CHAPTER 4 BORED

After one day without the little boy Albert couldn’t stand it. He needed fun and adventure! He went on adventures when the little boy drew pictures.  Whatever the little boy drew Albert went on an adventure to the place.  If he drew something Albert would use that thing. If he drew an animal or a person he would play with them or solve a mystery with them.  Sometimes the little boy drew an “it” or a “thing”. No one knew what he was drawing but I  did. I also knew all of the little boy’s secrets.  Like when the other week he snuck a marshmallow from the shelf when his Mom was not looking.

CHAPTER 6 MAIL

Early that morning Albert went to the mailbox and got the mail (because the little boys Mom forgot to cancel the mail).  He hopped to the mailbox and did a really springy jump to the top.  He opened the lid and went inside.  There was the junk mail, taxes and a letter? To him? It had been years since he had gotten a letter.  He left the letter in the mailbox and carried the rest of the mail inside.  Then he went back to the mail box, opened the lid to the mail box, and climbed inside. Then he shut the mail box again.

CHAPTER 7 LETTER

After Albert closed the mail box and he was inside, he opened the letter.

Dear: My sweet Albert. We need you now!!! An evil pencil is taking away your father. We need your help to get him back. Yours: Mommy Pen. P.S. Wrap yourself up on an envelope and send it to the return address.

CHAPTER 8 GO TIME!!!

Albert had been reading the letter for so long that he didn’t know what time it was so he looked at his watch. “Oh my” he said. “The mail will be here soon!”  So as fast as his spring could go he went inside and grabbed his bag, took the letter out and hopped in the envelope and wrote it to the return address.

CHAPTER 9 SHIPPING

Two minutes later the mail arrived. Hmm” said Big Bob as he saw the mail.  “I thought that family had left and gone to Mexico”, said the mailman. Well they must have left this letter before they left.”

Then Big Ben picked up the letter and put it in the mail bag.

CHAPTER 10 HEAR!

The ride seemed like forever!  Then I heard a screech.  And I was lifted up into the air and put in the tiny mailbox. I did not fit so he put me next to it.  And within 3 seconds he was gone.  No wonder he was gone so fast. The place looked gloomy and abandoned.  It did not look like this when I was a kid.  When I was a kid this place was all happy; not a soul was sad.  The trees seamed to reach for me.  And the dogs seamed to glare. I felt like the only one in a thousand years that had ever been out of their houses.  Had he gotten the wrong address?

CHAPTER 11 GUARDS

All of a sudden I heard a voice in the distance with an accent, “Is thee here?”

“He should be”, said another guard.

“Hello?” I said.

“There thee is. Let’s go!” replied a guard. Then a group of men lifted me up and carried me to a big castle. “The Queen is expecting you”, said one of the men carrying me.

Chapter 12 SOON.

    Hi May,
WOW! I hope you will write more soon! I cannot wait to discover what Albert does and how he helps the queen and how he saves his father from the Evil Pencil. Is Albert a prince, or does his family work for the royal family? Why is the kingdom so gloomy now?

I love you word choice and creativity. Your idea of giving a pen personality with special caps and an extra zingy spring is genius. Also adding a mystery to the plot after letting readers believe the problem would be waiting of a month for the boy to return is a wonderful twist. Even the little detail of using “thee” sets a special tone and adds a surprise! I hope chapter 12 SOON, and the other ones after it, come just as it says… soon.
THanks for sharing your amazing story!

May, Your incredible imagination and creativity is not only with art but writing too! Pep and I were riveted on your every word and you took us on an exciting adventure with Albert the pen with the amazing spring. Loved the chapter about the marshmallow as it reminds us of someone we know that we consider precious and priceless. We are anxiously awaiting Chapter 12!

Love your story about Albert and I can’t wait to read more Chapters to see what’s going to happen! I wish you’d be able to illustrate your story. Wouldn’t it be great to draw Albert in the mailbox? Maybe you’ll be a children’s book author and illustrator someday just like Chris Van Dusen and Piper’s Mom. I love what goes on in that pretty little head of yours. Now get going and continue the story, I can’t wait!!!!!
